Hummingbird Workshop in Mexico

Hummingbird Workshop in Mexico

In January of 2020, the Western Hummingbird Partnership held a hummingbird workshop for individuals to learn or improve monitoring techniques, explore threats to hummingbirds, learn new education and outreach activities, and attend a hummingbird festival. The participants were able to meet and learn from Dr. Sarahy Contreras, professor and researcher at the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources at the University of Guadalajara-CUCSUR as well as Dr. Jorge Schondube, who conducts research in Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Physiology at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma of Mexico.

The workshop took place at the Sierra de Manantlán Biosphere Reserve, where over 300 species of birds have been identified.
